6–12 Science Teacher · STEM Educator
Science learning shaped by inquiry and purpose.
I am Paolo Chavez Calvadores, a dedicated, student-centered educator with experience teaching grades 4–12 and college science classes. I design inquiry-based, phenomena-driven learning that builds critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world problem solving.
Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership
About me
A student-centered educator committed to meaningful science.
My career spans college and senior high school teaching in the Philippines and grades 4–12 education in Colorado. Across every setting, I work to make challenging science understandable, engaging, and worth investigating.
At Julesburg School District RE-1, I have taught Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, Astronomy, Zoology, Forensics, and Health Sciences as an elective, as well as Mechatronics as a concurrent college course. I integrate technology, project-based learning, and collaboration while aligning instruction with the Next Generation Science Standards.
Beyond the classroom, I coordinate gifted and talented programming, facilitate STEM and engineering camps, support student leadership as Freshman Sponsor, and lead professional learning. My graduate work centers compassion-focused leadership and educator well-being.
“Students do their best thinking when rigor and compassion live in the same room.

Inside the classroom
A sneak peek at science students can see, test, and build.
My classroom is an active learning space where students investigate phenomena, design solutions, use evidence, and explain what they discover. These moments reflect the cycle I want learners to experience: notice, question, build, test, revise, and share.
Classroom in motion
Smithsonian Teacher Innovator Institute
This application video documents my classroom instruction and student engagement. I was honored to be selected for the Smithsonian Teacher Innovator Institute, but I ultimately had to decline because the opportunity coincided with my final year in the United States as a J-1 educator.
Professional journey
Growing from classroom educator to teacher leader.
My experience connects university instruction, senior high school science, rural American education, gifted programming, and professional learning leadership.
